The Snow Elves sacrificed their vision in exchanged for refuge being given a toxic plant for food which the Snow Elves became dependent on. Surviving Snow Elves pleaded with the Dwemer for refuge striking a terrible bargain which would enslave them and their descendants to the Dwemer. Ysgramor returned with the famed Five Hundred Companions and cleared both Solstheim and Skyrim of the Elves. It may have been at this time that Wuthraad and the Shield of Ysgramor were forged. Ysgramor returned to Atmora to gather a force to take revenge. Elves were already in Skyrim but there did not seem to be difficulties between Men and Mer until the Power in Saarthal was discovered.Īccounts differ on who instigated, but the Snow Elves invaded Saarthal during the Night of Tears destroying the people there.
